Every goal has a measure and a target before the manager approves it
The AI checks each goal in SuccessFactors for a measure, a target and a link to the plant's goals, and suggests a rewrite where one is missing. Managers approve.
- Used day to day by
- Employees
- Line managers
- HR business partners
How it runs with AI
The AI reads each goal plan as it reaches the manager. It checks every goal for a measure, a starting point, a target and a link to a plant or department goal. Where a goal falls short, it suggests a rewrite using numbers already in SuccessFactors, and the employee accepts or edits it. The manager gets one view of the team and approves each plan.
Step by step
Where the work happens, what the AI does, and where it hands over to a person.
-
Step 1, AI
Picks up each goal plan waiting for the manager's approval
Needs to know: Goal cycle dates
In
SuccessFactors
-
Step 2, AI
Checks every goal for a measure, a starting point, a target and a link to a plant goal
Needs to know: HR's goal rules, Plant and department goals
In
SuccessFactors
-
Step 3, AI
Suggests a rewrite for each weak goal, using numbers already in SuccessFactors
Needs to know: Last half's results, Plant and department goals
In
SuccessFactors
Exception to step 3
Sends a goal the employee keeps as written to the manager, with the employee's note
-
Step 4, AI
Gives the manager one view of the team's plans, with anything left to decide
Needs to know: Each manager's team, Who owns which goal
In
SuccessFactors
-
Step 5, Person
Settles anything open and approves each plan
In
SuccessFactors
What stays with a person
- Settles anything open and approves each plan
Apps in this example
SuccessFactors
The same flow works with the apps you use.
This fits you if
- Goals are set in SuccessFactors each year or each half
- Plant and department goals are set first, and each person's goals are meant to support them
- At review time, managers and employees disagree on what a goal meant
- HR checks goal quality by sampling plans after they are approved
What to watch for
- HR sets the rules: what counts as a measure, how many goals a plan holds and the largest weight one goal can carry. The AI checks against those rules, and HR updates them each cycle
- Suggested rewrites use numbers already in SuccessFactors, like last half's result. Where a starting point is missing, the suggestion asks the employee for it
- Some good goals are hard to measure, like coaching a new technician. The employee can keep a goal as written with a note, and the manager decides
- The employee and the manager agree every target, and the manager approves each plan. Anything linked to pay stays with the manager and HR
- Before the first cycle, HR runs the checks on last half's approved plans and compares the results with its own reading
