Every bank account is reconciled each morning, with only the exceptions left for the team

Each morning the AI matches every bank statement line to SAP and prepares the reconciliation, so your team handles only the lines that need a decision.

Used day to day by
  • Treasury team
  • Accounts team
  • Financial controllers

How it runs with AI

By 8 am the AI has read every statement, matched each line to its entry in SAP and cleared the exact matches. For each line left over it suggests a match with the reason, such as a short payment for TDS. The team starts the day with a reconciliation for every account and a short list to decide.

How it is done today

Someone logs in to each bank's portal, downloads yesterday's statement and ticks it off against SAP, line by line. Dealer payments arrive with a shortened name in the narration, so the team looks up open invoices and calls dealers to confirm. With many accounts, the reconciliation runs a week behind and catches up at month end.

Step by step

Where the work happens, what the AI does, and where it hands over to a person.

  1. Step 1, AI

Collects yesterday's statement for every bank account by 7 am

Needs to know: Bank accounts in scope

    In Bank statements

  2. Step 2, AI

Matches every statement line to its entry in SAP

Needs to know: Matching rules, Past matches by payer

In Bank statements , SAP S/4HANA

  3. Step 3, AI

Suggests a match for each line left over, with the reason

Needs to know: Short-payment rules, Customer payment history

    In SAP S/4HANA

    Exception to step 3

Lists what it checked and hands the line to the team when no match fits

  4. Step 4, AI

Prepares the reconciliation statement for each account

    Needs to know: Reconciliation format

In Bank statements , SAP S/4HANA

  5. Step 5, Person

Approves the suggested matches and settles the rest by 11 am

    In SAP S/4HANA

What stays with a person

  • Approves the suggested matches and settles the rest by 11 am

Apps in this example

  • Bank statements
  • SAP S/4HANA

The same flow works with the apps you use.

This fits you if

  • You hold more than 5 bank accounts across several banks
  • Dealers or customers pay by NEFT, RTGS and UPI, with a shortened name in the narration
  • Your bank reconciliation happens weekly or at month end today
  • Your team keeps a BRS in Excel next to SAP

What to watch for

  • Lines that match exactly on amount and reference clear in SAP straight away. Suggested matches wait for a person to approve them
  • Your team sets the rules up front, for example how large a short payment can be and still count as TDS
  • Debits the AI fails to explain go to the treasury head the same morning, because they can be wrong bank charges or fraud
  • Each bank sends its statements to the AI through a file feed or a statement mailbox, set up once per bank
